About Me

I am Dr. Ayodele John Alonge — a scholar, educator, and storyteller whose work thrives at the intersection of librarianship, digital transformation, theology, communication, and community development. With more than a decade of professional and academic experience across Nigeria, Europe, and North America, I am committed to advancing knowledge, strengthening information ecosystems, and promoting human flourishing through faith-informed scholarship and service.

My academic journey spans some of Africa’s and the world’s leading institutions: from Library, Archival and Information Studies at the University of Ibadan to a PhD in Communication and Information Studies at the University of Nairobi, complemented by advanced training in digital curation, recordkeeping informatics, and data science in Canada, the Netherlands, South Africa, and Botswana.
I previously served as a Digital Transformation Researcher at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, where I applied design thinking, project management, and stakeholder-centered strategies to reimagine and optimize information systems. My work focused on service design, concept harmonization, knowledge curation, and impactful storytelling—ensuring that digital innovation remains ethical, human-centered, and sustainable.

Alongside this role, I contribute globally as a Consultant Librarian and Project Director for the Afrelib Green Library Project in the United Kingdom, supporting sustainable library development, ecological literacy, and community research initiatives.

My professional journey also includes service as a Lecturer at the University of Ibadan, a Visiting Scholar in Special Collections at the University of Groningen, an Emerging Technology Librarian, an Archivist, and Digital Communication Coordinator for the Nigerian Library Association. Across these roles, I have trained students, supported scholars, curated special collections, advanced ICT integration, and strengthened information and communication structures within academic and professional communities.

My scholarship spans health communication, digital information behavior, social media studies, knowledge systems, and library innovation, with publications in reputable journals, refereed conference proceedings, and international book chapters.

My Passion & Calling

As a communicator and Library and Information professional, I am passionate about bridging theology, librarianship, communication, storytelling, and digital culture to foster spiritual growth, emotional healing, and meaningful human connection. Whether through teaching, writing, research, ministry, or digital engagement, my calling is to help people encounter truth, experience renewal, and embrace the courage to live fully and authentically.

My experiences working with young people across Nigeria and Europe have deeply revealed the urgent need to reignite young people’s interest and participation in the church. This conviction led me to lead a youth-focused faith initiative in the Netherlands through the Wonder of Worship Grant, where I developed and facilitated creative projects that helped young people reconnect with the church, rediscover their faith, and experience worship in culturally relevant and transformative ways.

In addition, I serve as a Membership Coordinator and Chaplain with Gideons International Netherlands , where I support Christian outreach, spiritual formation, and mission-driven engagement. These ministry experiences have strengthened my commitment to nurturing communities where faith, learning, and service intersect meaningfully.

I see learning as a sacred journey—a continual rising into deeper wisdom, service, and purpose. My work is fueled by a desire to build systems, stories, and spaces that uplift communities, empower individuals, and inspire transformative change, both within the church and across society.

Faith & Family

I am blessed with a loving and supportive family who continually reminds me of God’s grace, faithfulness, and unending love. They remain my greatest ministry and my daily testimony that:

“Family is the first sanctuary where faith learns to speak and love learns to serve.”
